About M-Beat

Born in 1975 in London’s East End to Jamaican parents, Marlon Hart, known as M-Beat, is the nephew of reggae legend Sly Dunbar. His father, Junior Hart, founded H Jam Productions in 1988 and later Renk Records in 1990 to release M-Beat’s music. M-Beat emerged as a key figure in the jungle genre, blending reggae, dancehall, soul, and breakbeats. M-Beat is celebrated for introducing jungle to mainstream audiences in the early 1990s. He’s the only jungle artist to perform on Top of the Pops four times and one of the few to score three consecutive UK Top 20 hits in the 1990s.
