Luna Maya Sugeng (born August 26, 1983 in Denpasar, Bali, Indonesia) is an Indonesian model, soap opera actress, movie star and singer. She started her career as an advertising and catwalk model. She made her first steps into the movie world in 2004 with a supporting role in the film ‘30 hari Mencari Cinta‘. This was followed by ‘Brownies‘ in 2005, also in a supporting role. She has received several nominations during the Indonesian Film Festival, while continuing to appear on the small screen in Indonesian soap operas. She has also appeared in Indonesian advertising campaigns for Lux, XL and Toshiba. In 2008, she became one of the torchbearers for the 2008 Summer Olympics, together with colleague Sandra Dewi. Soon after she opened her first boutique, ‘LM Hardware’ in the cities of Jakarta and Bandung. She has also opened a lounge bar in Bandung named ‘Envy’. In 2010, her boyfriend Nazril “Ariel” Irham, lead singer of Indonesian rock band Peterpan, was arrested after a sex video that allegedly featured Luna was distributed on the Internet. Ariel was sentenced to three-and-a-half years in prison in January 2011. Luna lost her contract to advertise Lux soap as a result of the scandal. Luna, recently however appear in the local television saying that she miss the entertainment industry.
