About Lukáš Borzík

Slovak composer Lukáš Borzík was born on 3rd August 1979 in Poprad, Slovakia. After graduating Piarist High School of Jozef Branecký in Trenčín (1993 – 1997) he studied classical guitar at Music College under Peter Remeník (1999 – 2003). In the years 2000 – 2002 he received private tuition of composition from Pavol Krška, which was followed by regular composition studies at Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava under Vladimír Bokes in the years 2003 – 2008. In 2011 he finished his Ph.D program under Jevgenij Iršai. In 2005 he participated at 14th International Music Workshop in Castle Trebnitz (Germany) and also at the festival Ostrava Days in the Czech Republic. In 2006 he was awarded 1st prize in Alexander Moyzes International Competition for Composers, chamber ensembles category, and also Best Composition of Slovak Composer for his composition Ask the Mirror. Since 2011 he has been working as a university teacher at Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava. His music has been performed at many concerts and festivals in Slovakia (Nová slovenská hudba, Melos Ethos, Orfeus, ABB, etc.) and abroad (Austria, Germany, Italy, Spain, Poland, Serbia, and the Czech Republic). His oeuvre includes stage, film and radio music which has been performed at home and abroad.
