About Lower Loveday

Lower Loveday is an indie rock band from Manchester, formed in 2018 by Mark Ryder (vocals) and Tom Parker (drums). The two musicians originally met at a school talent competition, where they gained their first band experience together. After years apart due to university and travel, a spontaneous reunion in Sydney, Australia, led to a musical restart and the formation of Lower Loveday. The band's name comes from Lower Loveday Street in Birmingham, where Tom Parker wrote his first songs while studying. Their style is a blend of indie rock and pop. Musically, they cite bands like Arctic Monkeys, Blossoms, and Oasis as influences. In 2019, they released their first songs, including "Chains" and "You Could've Been My Queen," and played their first gigs in local clubs and bars. Then, in 2020, came the breakthrough with the single "Bandwagon." The single received airplay on BBC Radio 1 and Radio X and was featured in the TV series Made in Chelsea. It reached number 1 on the iTunes Rock chart. Since then, they have enjoyed a growing fanbase and increasing popularity., Blossoms, and Oasis as influences.
