About Los Indonesios

Los Indonesios were essentially the same Dutch rock 'n roll group as The Black Dynamites, who were part of the so-called 'Indorock' wave: early rock 'n roll in The Netherlands played by boys with Indonesian roots (in many cases they were born in Indonesia when it was still a Dutch colony: the Dutch East Indies). As rock 'n roll was brushed aside by the 'beat boom' of the mid-1960s, The Black Dynamites participated in a talent show on Spanish TV. They made an impression, landed a Spanish record deal, but their label suggested they change their name into Los Indonesios for the Spanish market. As Los Indonesios the band had a few succesful years: 'Twistin' con Los Indonesios' was a succesful single, they toured the whole country, even did a tour of Morocco and starred in a few Spanish rock 'n roll films. In the 1970s they moved to South Africa in an attempt to repeat their Spanish success over there (which they didn't).
