About Lir Shilton

Lir Shilton is a musician based in London, UK, born and raised in Ashkelon, Israel. Lir began her interest in music at an early age. When she was 4 years old, attending a family wedding, she was fascinated with the saxophone player and refused to go home. At the age of 8 she took piano lessons, and was then accepted to an art-focused elementary school where she experienced music and stage arts. Lir had taught herself to play the guitar, and by the age of 14, wrote her first song. From that point, she had played with various bands and ensembles in many venues and festivals in Israel. In 2012 Lir had digitally released an EP titled ‘Director’s Cut’. Later this year, she moved to the UK to pursue her art. She played in many venues such as ‘O2 Academy Islington’, ‘The Water Rats’, ‘Brixton Jamm’ and various radio stations across the UK. Lir Shilton’s debut single ‘Flower’ was released on 23 May 2016. It received praises from the likes of Folk and Honey and Frank Hennessey (BBC Wales): “When I first heard it I thought I was in heaven!”. Her second single ‘Cherry Blossom Girl’ was praised by JB Dunckel (Air), the original song’s writer. Lir is a multi-instrumentalists and plays the Guitar, Piano, Banjo, Ukulele, various types of flutes, Kalimba and Erhu.
