About Linki Park
Linkin Park is an American rock band formed in Agoura Hills, California, in 1996. The band's current lineup consists of Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson, Joe Hahn, Dave Farrell, Emily Armstrong, and Colin Brittain. The lineup for the band's first seven studio albums included Chester Bennington and Rob Bourdon. Following Bennington's death in 2017, the band entered a hiatus before reforming in 2024 with Armstrong and Brittain joining the group. Linkin Park has been associated primarily with alternative rock and nu metal, while also incorporating elements of heavy metal, hip hop, electronic music, and pop music throughout its career. The band achieved international success with its debut album, "Hybrid Theory" (2000), which was certified Diamond by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Singles including "One Step Closer", "Crawling", and "In the End" received significant radio and television airplay, with "In the End" reaching number two on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the United States. The band's second album, "Meteora" (2003), continued its commercial success, while "Minutes to Midnight" (2007) marked a shift in musical direction. The band's later releases included "A Thousand Suns" (2010), which featured a greater emphasis on electronic music, "Living Things" (2012), "The Hunting Party" (2014), and "One More Light" (2017), which incorporated more pop-oriented elements. In 2024, Linkin Park released "From Zero", which combined elements from earlier and later stages of the band's musical style. Linkin Park has sold more than 100 million records worldwide. The band has received multiple awards, including two Grammy Awards, seven American Music Awards, four Billboard Music Awards, four MTV Video Music Awards, ten MTV Europe Music Awards, and three World Music Awards. In 2003, MTV2 ranked Linkin Park sixth among bands of the music video era and third among artists of the new millennium. Billboard placed the band at number 19 on its Best Artists of the Decade list. In 2014, Kerrang! described Linkin Park as "the Biggest Rock Band in the World Right Now". The band was founded by high school friends Mike Shinoda, Rob Bourdon, and Brad Delson, who attended Agoura High School in Agoura Hills, California. After graduation, they recruited Joe Hahn, Dave Farrell, and Mark Wakefield to form a band called Xero. In 1997, the group released a demo album titled "Xero" and performed live in Los Angeles venues, including the Whisky a Go Go. Following difficulties securing a recording contract, Wakefield left the band, and Farrell temporarily departed to tour with other groups. In 1999, the band recruited Chester Bennington, formerly of Grey Daze, as lead vocalist. The group changed its name from Xero to Hybrid Theory and later to Linkin Park, a reference to Lincoln Park in Santa Monica, California. The altered spelling allowed the band to obtain the domain name "linkinpark.com". Linkin Park signed with Warner Bros. Records in 1999 and released the "Hybrid Theory" EP that same year. "Hybrid Theory" was released on October 24, 2000, and became one of the best-selling albums of the year. The album won the Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock Performance for the song "Crawling" and received nominations for Best New Artist and Best Rock Album. The band toured extensively in support of the album and launched the Projekt Revolution tour series. In 2002, Linkin Park released "Reanimation", a remix album featuring collaborations with artists including Black Thought, Jonathan Davis, Aaron Lewis, and Snoop Dogg. In 2003, Linkin Park released "Meteora", which debuted at number one on several international charts. Singles from the album included "Somewhere I Belong", "Faint", "Breaking the Habit", and "Numb". The band toured globally in support of the album and released the live album and DVD "Live in Texas" in 2003. During the mid-2000s, Linkin Park members pursued various side projects. The band collaborated with Jay-Z on the remix EP "Collision Course" (2004), which included the Grammy Award-winning single "Numb/Encore". Mike Shinoda also formed the side project Fort Minor, releasing the album "The Rising Tied" in 2005. Linkin Park participated in charitable initiatives including Music for Relief and performed at the Live 8 concerts in 2005. Linkin Park released "Minutes to Midnight" in 2007, produced by Rick Rubin and Mike Shinoda. The album represented a stylistic departure from the band's earlier nu metal sound and included singles such as "What I've Done", "Bleed It Out", "Shadow of the Day", and "Leave Out All the Rest". "What I've Done" was featured in the film "Transformers" (2007). The band supported the album with the "Minutes to Midnight World Tour" and additional Projekt Revolution tours. In 2010, the band released "A Thousand Suns", an experimental album incorporating electronic music and conceptual themes. During the album's production, Linkin Park collaborated with composer Hans Zimmer on the score for "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" (2009) and released the single "New Divide" for the film. Singles from "A Thousand Suns" included "The Catalyst", "Waiting for the End", and "Iridescent". "Living Things" was released in 2012 and combined elements from the band's earlier and later musical styles. The album debuted at number one in the United States and included singles such as "Burn It Down", "Lost in the Echo", and "Castle of Glass". In 2013, the band collaborated with Steve Aoki on the song "A Light That Never Comes" and released the remix album "Recharged". In 2014, Linkin Park released "The Hunting Party", a heavier rock-oriented album featuring guest appearances by Rakim, Tom Morello, Daron Malakian, and Page Hamilton. Singles included "Guilty All the Same", "Until It's Gone", "Wastelands", and "Final Masquerade". The band performed "Hybrid Theory" in full at Download Festival in 2014 and headlined several international music festivals. The band's seventh studio album, "One More Light", was released in 2017 and featured a more pop-oriented sound. Singles included "Heavy", "Battle Symphony", "Good Goodbye", and "Invisible". Chester Bennington died on July 20, 2017, and his death was ruled a suicide. Linkin Park canceled the remaining dates of the "One More Light World Tour" and later held a tribute concert titled "Linkin Park and Friends: Celebrate Life in Honor of Chester Bennington" at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. The live album "One More Light Live" was released later that year. Following Bennington's death, Linkin Park entered a hiatus. During this period, the band released anniversary editions of "Hybrid Theory" and "Meteora", including previously unreleased songs such as "She Couldn't", "Lost", and "Fighting Myself". Mike Shinoda stated in interviews that the band remained open to continuing in the future. By 2019, Shinoda, Farrell, Hahn, and Delson had resumed working on new music. Emily Armstrong and Colin Brittain later joined the project. In 2024, the band released the previously unreleased song "Friendly Fire" and the compilation album "Papercuts". In September 2024, Linkin Park officially announced its return with Armstrong as co-vocalist and Brittain as drummer. The band simultaneously released the single "The Emptiness Machine" and announced the album "From Zero". The addition of Armstrong generated public discussion regarding her past associations with the Church of Scientology and actor Danny Masterson. Armstrong stated publicly that she condemned Masterson's crimes and had not remained in contact with him after attending a court appearance in 2020. Following its return, Linkin Park embarked on an international arena tour in 2024 and announced a larger stadium and arena tour for 2025. Brad Delson later stated that he would no longer tour with the band and would instead focus on studio and behind-the-scenes work, with guitarist Alex Feder performing live in his place. Singles released from "From Zero" included "Heavy Is the Crown", "Over Each Other", and "Two Faced". In 2025, the band released additional songs connected to a deluxe edition of the album, including "Up From the Bottom", "Unshatter", and "Let You Fade". Linkin Park also performed at the 2025 UEFA Champions League final at the Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany.
