About Les Quatre Barbus

Les Quatre Barbus was a French vocal group. They formed in 1938 at Agnes Capri as the Quatuor vocal des Compagnons de Route. They recorded their first album in 1948. Their style is close to that of Les Frères Jacques. Their repertoire included traditional songs, bawdy cabaret songs, as well as anarchist songs. The group ceased to be in 1969. Members included Tritsch Jacques (1913-1991) (base) Quinton Marcel (1916-1984) (baritone) Pierre Jamet (1910-2000) (tenor) and George Thibaut (1911-1998) (countertenor, arrived in 1949)
