1) Laureate is industrial/noise artist Jim Haras. 2) Laureate is a Canadian indie-rock band based out of Vancouver. Their debut EP was recorded live off the floor, maintaining their markedly raw, yet sharp live performance at the forefront of their sound. The band consists of members Ryan Bishop (vocals, guitar), Michael LaRoy (guitar, vocals), Jordan Ness (bass, vocals), and Spencer Viehweger (drums). Self-proclaimed melody junkies, these men are also poets at heart, making an unstoppable combination of creative musicality topped with intuitive and heart-touching lyrical savvy. Laying to rest the trendy categories of emo and the continual wave of aggressive hard rock, Laureate is drawing particularly from musical influences as diverse as their artistic tastes will allow; Laureate has been compared sonically with artists as diverse as Sloan, Ryan Adams, the Tragically Hip, Oasis, Blue Rodeo, Coldplay, and even the Eagles. They have been crafting their sound by searching their rock & roll roots, finding inspiration to blend familiar classic rock and country with a modern east coast feel, emerging with a sound all their own, though distinctly Canadian. 3) Laureate (FI) was founded in 2004 by singer/guitarist/songwriter Pasi Kristian Hakulinen and drummer Heikki Ahonen (now with Reckless Love).
