Larry Parker founder and lead singer of Larry and the Loafers is alive and well still rocking. The band is still playing in Birmingham, Alabama .Playing good old Rock and Roll for the Bop and Shag dancers. Larry formed the first vocal group in Birmingham doing rock and roll with the name The Swingin Teens. The group needed a band for backup and Larry and the Loafers was formed with Larry as lead singer . Larry took a summer job at a new AM radio station with his knowledge on local music . The station was a dawn to dusk station and one summer nite practice at the station , Larry with help from Hal Painter's guitar , the hit Panama City Blues was written and recorded by Larry.
