About Lamo

Lamo are a brother-sister two-piece band formed in Stoke-on-Trent around 2006, inspired by the intensity of the two-piece Lightning Bolt, and influenced by the dirgy sounds of Kyuss and The Jesus Lizard. Ais is the guitarist and lead vocalist. She uses an octave pedal through both a guitar amp and bass amp to produce a full, heavy sound with bone-shaking bass tones. Col, does second vocals. Primarily a punk drummer, he incorporates elements of doom metal, jazz, dub and disco into his beats, but deals with adrenaline rather than technicality. Lamo recorded the Edicotatop EP in 2008 with Broken Branch Records, which was awarded Single of the Week by ORGAN Magazine. "LAMO – Edicotatop – A churning kind of falling down the stairs carrying a kitchen sink kind of duo. Brutal guitars, raw ripping filthy barbed riffs and dismantled drums and a churning churning cacophony of noise rock delight and getta job.... A sound engineer’s nightmare, a mountain of feedback fuelled by aggressive intent, a twin headed monster created by siblings Ais and Colm Clafferty. They’re from the Midlands of England, they deal in extreme noise terror, they are clearly not to be messed with and they sound like nothing you or I could easily pin down. Limited to just 200 CDs so move on it now, put all your eggs in their basket..." (ORGAN Magazine, Issue #298) Following problems with the pressing plant, the Broken Branch Records version of Edictotatop is not available, but Lamo are selling a self-released version of the EP at their gigs. Currently, Lamo are in the process of writing new material and are involved in collaborations with fellow South London based band Conmungos, with whom Lamo share a rehearsal space. This amalgamated group goes under the conjoined name 'Lamungos'.
