About Kumi Tanioka
Kumi Tanioka (谷岡久美, born August 29, 1974 in Hiroshima, Japan) has been a soundtrack composer for Square Enix since 1998. Her prior education includes attending the University of Kobe. Her interest in music dates back to playing piano at an early age. Tanioka's first big compositions were used for 2001's Final Fantasy XI (Online). Alongside Nobuo Uematsu (植松伸夫) and Naoshi Mizuta (水田直志), she became a member of the composer group The Star Onions. Later, she was asked to compose all the scores for 2003's Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles.
