About Kristina Bach
Kristina Bach (born Kerstin Bräuer on April 7, 1962, in Mettmann) is a German pop singer, songwriter, lyricist, and music producer. After completing school, she trained in singing, dance, piano, guitar, and acting. She also worked as a TV presenter before starting her music career. Bach was discovered as a singer in the early 1980s, releasing her first single “Donna Maria” in 1983. She gained initial success in 1984 with a cover of the 1960s hit “Heißer Sand.” Her breakthrough came in 1990 with the song “Erst ein Cappuccino,” which earned her six consecutive wins in the German Schlagerparade. In 1993, she reached the US Billboard Dance Charts with a dance version of “The Phantom of the Opera,” staying in the Top 20 for several weeks. In 1997, she released the duet “Gib nicht auf” with Drafi Deutscher. In the early 1990s, Bach discovered singer Michelle and connected her with producer Jean Frankfurter. She competed in the 1994 German Schlager Festival with the song “Matador,” placing 5th, and won a songwriting award for Michelle’s entry “Silbermond und Sternenfeuer.” Bach later produced and wrote songs for various artists, including Helene Fischer’s 2013 number-one hit “Atemlos durch die Nacht,” and supported acts like Cappuccinos and Jeanette Biedermann. From 2010 to 2012, she produced DSDS contestant Annemarie Eilfeld. In 2011, she participated in the fourth season of the TV show Let’s Dance with partner Erich Klann. Since 2015, Bach has largely withdrawn from public life, releasing no new music and staying inactive on social media since 2018. She appeared in 2021 to receive the Fred Jay Prize and performed as a special guest at the 2022 Schlager Night at the Kalkberg. Kristina Bach is the patron of the German Allergy and Asthma Association, reflecting her own lifelong asthma condition. She is also an ambassador for the José Carreras Leukemia Foundation and World Vision Germany.
