About Klara

1) KLARA is a Swedish singer / songwriter, born in Lund and now based in London. Since meeting Justin Vernon of Bon Iver at Glastonbury 2015 and being invited to spend time with him and his musical cohorts at his Eaux Claires Festival, KLARA returned from Wisconsin with a clear vision for her own music. Mixing the subtleties of a traditional singer songwriter with modern vocal production, KLARA's work evolves the genre into the modern age. If Bon Iver provide a creative influence, then KLARA’s own love for the church-like reverb of bands such as Daughter and the bold yet sparse power of the London Grammar’s of this world help to shape her sound. Born in Lund, Sweden, and based in London, KLARA splits her time between London, Sweden and LA, writing her own music in her studio at Crouch End’s Church Studios, whilst collaborating with songwriters such as Tim Myers (OneRepublic) and Jimmy Harry (Pink!, Weezer) in LA and writing camps in Sweden with the likes of Cajsa Siik and Annika Norlin (Hello Saferide/Säkert!). KLARA recorded her album at Real World Studios including the singles ‘Laura’ and ‘I Can’t Speak For You’ co-producing the album with Erland Cooper and featuring performances from musicians including Hannah Peel, drummer Fabio De Oliviera (George Ezra), pedal steel player Matt Park (Mumford & Sons, Mystery Jets) and horn player Kevin Robinson (Incognito). With KLARAs upbringing in the rolling Swedish landscapes and choosing to record in the beautiful surroundings of Real World (it has a moat with swans swimming outside the vocal booth!), it’s no surprise that nature plays such a key role in her music. KLARA has had some memorable moments in her career to date, including a Festival Number 6 performance with the No. 6 Ensemble in the Town Hall venue, with new arrangements of her songs by the Festival Number 6 composer in residence, Joe Duddell, following in the footsteps of the likes of Daughter, Rae Morris, Palace and many more. KLARA has also shared stages with the likes of Fenne Lily, Lucy Rose, Clare Maguire, M Craft, Starling & many more. An album recorded at Peter Gabriel’s Real World Studios and co-produced with Erland Cooper will be released in early 2020. KLARA can be found on most social media as KLARA from Sweden, because "it's how people write me in their phone!" Volvo collaboration Her song 'These Woods (Human Made)' soundtracks VOLVO XC60 TV commercials in the UK and Australia. The song was recorded at Real World Studios and has been played by the likes of Jo Whiley on Radio 2 and covered by the likes of Clash Magazine and Daily Mail. The track also hit Number 1 in the iTunes UK Singer/Songwriter download chart and has featured on Apple Music's 'Best Of The Week' playlist amongst others. The song peaked at number 9 in the Spotify 'UK Viral 50' chart plus featured on Spotify's 'Lost In The Woods' and ‘Mellow Pop’ playlists. The advert was the third most Shazamed ad in the UK for 4 weeks, helping KLARA to number 18 in the Shazam UK Future Hits chart and number 65 in the UK Shazam chart.
