About Junior Senior

Junior Senior were a Danish pop duo formed in 1998. The group consisted of Jesper "Junior" Mortensen (born 7 February 1979), who performed vocals and played guitar, keyboards, bass guitar, drums and percussion, and Jeppe "Senior" Laursen (born 25 December 1977), who provided vocals and programming. They are best known for the single "Move Your Feet", which achieved international success in 2003, particularly in the United Kingdom. Mortensen and Laursen had previously performed together in the band Ludo-X, which disbanded in 1995. They reunited in 1998 to form Junior Senior and subsequently signed with the Danish record label Crunchy Frog Records. The duo released their debut album, "D-D-Don't Don't Stop the Beat", in 2002. Its lead single, "Move Your Feet", became a major international hit and charted in more than a dozen countries, including the United States, Australia, France and the United Kingdom. The song was later featured in a variety of media, including the television series "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy", the video games "Dance Dance Revolution Extreme" and "Just Dance 2", and the films "White Chicks", "Looney Tunes: Back in Action" and "How to Eat Fried Worms". It was also used in advertising campaigns for Google Chromebook, Hyundai Tucson and Kohl's Active. The song became closely associated with its animated pixel-art music video, created by the design collective Shynola. The album's second single, "Rhythm Bandits", charted in the United Kingdom and Australia and appeared on the soundtrack of the video game "FIFA Football 2004". "D-D-Don't Don't Stop the Beat" was included in several year-end best album lists published in 2003 by magazines including "Rolling Stone", "NME", "Entertainment Weekly" and "Blender". The album also included the singles "Shake Your Coconuts" and "White Trash". "Shake Your Coconuts" appeared on the soundtrack of "Looney Tunes: Back in Action", served as menu music in the video game "Worms 3D", and was featured in the film "Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen" and an episode of the television series "Malcolm in the Middle". In 2017, the song was used by the band Phish to open a series of concerts at Madison Square Garden known as "The Baker's Dozen". "White Trash" was used in promotional advertising for the British music television programme "Popworld". Junior Senior released their second studio album, "Hey Hey My My Yo Yo", in Japan on 24 August 2005. It was later released in the United States in 2007. The album's first single was "Itch U Can't Skratch". The track "Take My Time" featured guest vocals by Cindy Wilson and Kate Pierson of the American band The B-52's, while members of The Velvelettes provided backing vocals on seven tracks. "Take My Time" was also included in the video game "Lumines II". In 2006, the duo organised a fan competition allowing participants to appear in the music video for "Can I Get Get Get". The song was later featured in the television series "Ugly Betty", "Cavemen", "Castle" and "Eastbound & Down", as well as the film "What Happens in Vegas". It also appeared in the Nordic edition of the video game "Lips". Another album track, "Hip Hop a Lula", was used in a Sears advertising campaign in 2007 and in promotional material for Australia's Network Ten in 2008. On 26 September 2008, Mortensen and Laursen announced that Junior Senior would disband in order to pursue separate projects. Following the split, Mortensen released the single "Trust Tissue" under the name I Scream Ice Cream and later formed the group MAKE OUT in 2010. Laursen began work on a solo debut project and released the "Big Lucky EP" in 2009.
