About Jordan Dykstra

Jordan Dykstra (b. 1985) is an American composer, violist, and sound artist currently living in southern California. He's made music under the name Dash! and released two works under his own name on Marriage Records. Born and raised in Sioux City, IA, Jordan Dykstra studied composition at Azusa Pacific University in Azusa, CA., Portland State University in Portland, OR., and at the California Institute of the Arts in Valencia, CA. He has worked as a composer on film music for Gus Van Sant, as a session violist and string director for Dirty Projectors, and has made compositions for Allie Hankin's dance performances. Dykstra has performed on solo viola at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles, CA., at the Portland Art Museum in Portland, OR., and at Harpa Concert Hall in Reykjavik, Iceland. His composing firm is called The Business of Composing for Strings.
