Original Trio: Cido Bianchi (piano) Sabá (acoustic bass) Toninho Pinheiro (drums) Second trio: Paulo Roberto Cláiber Toninho Pinheiro Formed in 1965 by competent musicians of the bossa nova and early-Brazilian jazz period, the Jongo Trio performed shows in the reputed bossa venues Teatro de Arena, Teatro Paramount, and Cave nightclub, as well as performing on the TV show O Fino da Bossa show. Accompanied by Baden Powell, the group was paid tribute by the famous composer with "Feitinha Pro Poeta" (with Lula Freire). They were also accompanied by Elis Regina and Jair Rodrigues in the show Dois Na Bossa. The solo LP Jongo Trio (Farroupilha, 1965) had several hits with "Feitinha Pro Poeta," "O Menino Das Laranjas" (Théo de Barros), "Terra De Ninguém" (Marcos Valle/Paulo Sérgio Valle) and "Seu Chopin, Desculpe" (Johnny Alf). In the beginning of 1966, Sabá and Toninho Pinheiro they had started to play in trio with Cesar Camargo Mariano, acting with the name of Som Três. With another formation, consisting of Toninho Pinheiro, Paulo Roberto (piano) and Claiber (bass), and with the name of Jongo Trio and Company, the group recorded the LPs "Jongo" (1970) and "Jongo Trio" (1972).
