Also known as Jauperi. The singer-songwriter Jauperi Lazaro dos Santos or simply Jau, was born in Salvador, Bahia. With a strong influence of african-Bahian music that came from his first professional experience with the artistic universe with band Olodum. His booming voice and melodies is more primitive and powerful and echoes reflect his personal and artistic life. He has had the opportunity to play with renowned stars on the national scene, such as Djavan, Marisa Monte and Paralamas do Sucesso and international, such as Paul Simon, Tracy Chapman, Wayne Shorter, Joan Baez and Courtney Pine. He was awarded the prize for best composition in FEMADUM, Olodum Music and Arts Festival, where he began his career. His compositions have been performed by various artists from Bahia such as Ara Ketu, Netinho, Cheiro de Amor, Pierre Onassis, among others.
