When I began playing guitar, I was heavily influenced by Eric Clapton, Freddie King, B.B. King, Buddy Guy and Mike Bloomfield, and bands such as The Allman Brothers, Cream, John Mayall, early Fleetwood Mac and ZZ Top, just to name a few. I also recall trying to get my hands on just about anything that was good Blues music. I'd spend countless hours listening and playing along, rewinding the good parts in order to learn a new lick or phrase. All the while not realizing that my own style was being nurtured along. As time went on, I began listening to a wider variety of guitar players in various musical genres. It was also during this time that I discovered such greats as Robben Ford, Larry Carlton, Warren Haynes, Peter Green and Mick Taylor. The more I listened, the more my style evolved and, currently, I spend time incorporating more jazz infused blues into my playing while developing a stronger understanding of harmony. In a lot of my playing today you'll hear a wide variety of influences and styles. That's mainly due to the fact that I feel you never stop growing as a player and I still spend quite a bit of time listening to a lot of different artists. Through all of that you have no choice but to soak it up and if it sticks it will eventually come out in my playing.
