About Herculion
Herculion is a rock band that formed in Los Angeles, California in 2011. The Band consists of Aaron Silverstein (vocals, guitar) and Mitchel McKenzie (drums, vocals, guitar). The duo got their first taste of making music in late 2010 when they set out to score one of their short-film projects in McKenzie's garage. Neither member had played much of any instrument before then. Drawing influence from a variety of genres, including blues, folk, indie rock, metal, soul, and hip hop, Herculion's sound centers around mostly fuzzed-out guitar riffs, feral, pounding drum beats, and trenchant vocal performances. Taking a do-it-yourself approach, Herculion began recording their first album (Year in the Dark) in 2011, learning to play, record, and mix along the way. The Band's DIY methods extend beyond music into creating their own artwork, videos, and web presence.
