About Heike Barth
Born in Frankfurt Germany, I was already drawn to the arts as a child. After a strong involvement in ballet and sport championships, I fell in love with music. I have been growing up with Italian Opera as well as pop music, which led me into musical education (piano, talent competitions etc.) at a young age. The release of my first solo-album at the age of 17 (produced in Great Britain) set the first mark of my ambition to become a professional singer. The foundation of my first rock band "Second Face" in '82 set the sails for over 300 concerts all over Europe. Following LP productions, appearances at famous festivals ("Rock am Ring"/1986, "Greenbelt Festival"-Great Britain/1987 etc.) and TV shows displayed my determination for an international career in the music business. Embracing a record deal with EMI, my second band "Shell and the Ocean" toured as supporting act of the Bee Gees. At the same time I had enrolled as a student at the University of Giessen (Pedagogy, Psychology) where I studied voice almost every day for three years under my Canadian teacher Andrea Mellis. The "Functional Method" (New York) I learned from her became not only my great foundation as an artist and session singer but as a vocal teacher shortly after. Since then I have been working as a vocal coach and later also as a vocal therapist. Starting out as a free lancer I also pioneered pop singing (various styles) in my state for a big music school (Wiesbaden) and the "Scream Factory" in Frankfurt, the first private school for arts and performance in Germany. Being part of the team that founded it, I was training beginners as well as professionals, led numerous workshops and helped people with voice problems. My first international breakthrough as a session singer came in the 90ies when I performed for stars like Mark Knopfler (Dire Straits), Sarah Brightman and Mariah Carey. Chasing the ultimate success, I was also running from the God I had heard about as a teenager. My exotic search for real love and fulfillment in life never got answered. Success also as a solo artist was inevitable, when I was offered a major record deal with the famous European hip hop band and chart-breaker "Down Low" in 1998. Yet, in the summer of the same year, I followed an invitation to visit the Brownsville Revival, a spiritual movement in Pensacola, Florida. It needed God's strong voice and loving encounter to save and radically change me there. Modern worship music was the major key that drew me to the Lord and into the greatest love relationship of my life. Subsequently I dedicated my life to Jesus, gave up my career and everything I had to respond to the call of God and to attend bible school (graduation in 2000/2001). After my return to Germany, I also finished an university degree (M.A. in Special Education) in 2003. Since then I have been travelling different nations for ministry. In 2005 I felt led to go back to the U.S.A. into the entertainment industry (base in L.A.) to reach artists for the heart of God. At present, my engagement among artists is extending through increasing work in Europe which will eventually lead to a base there as well. I am looking forward to commuting between the continents through my work as an artist and my dream to touch many lives with the very love that is changing and inspiring my own.
