About Goes Cube

Goes Cube is a trio hailing from Brooklyn. After bludgeoning their local NYC rock circuit, they made numerous DIY treks across the continent and endeared themselves to loud music critics nationwide. Garnering praise as “favorite underground locals" and bringing “newfound hope for the future of rock in New York City” they have rapidly sold out of their two EPs “Beckon The Dagger God” (2007), and "Not What We Thought" (2008). Walls of thick distorted guitar (David Obuchowski), relentless bass (Matthew Frey) and destructive drumming (Kenny Appell) create the loud, raucous experience that is Goes Cube. PRESS "Goes Cube's sledgehammer assault was inescapably awesome. They bludgeoned our eardrums - and our hearts - with their epic Fugazi feel, machine gun double-bass assault and monumental larynx-shredding vocals. Goes Cube just may have become our favorite underground locals. They're definitely our loudest." Stereogum “Anyone who thinks New York rockers just primp and pose will be heartened by Goes Cube, a Big Apple band that goes straight for the gut. Their stomach punch hits hard," Columbus Alive "Heavy as hell, and equally ominous, Goes Cube is an almost purely visceral experience...get ready to feel bass and kick drums rumble through your gut," LimeWire Music Blog "You'll need a bit of time to recover from this one — perhaps book a cell in a monastery for quality silence. This is as loud as loud gets (Mogwai, take heed). Brooklyn's latest bellow is a powerful volley for avant-punk...the energy is utterly captured. This is a band that has not forgotten the great mid-'90s Swedish group Refused, which took hard-core to a totally different compositional level," Los Angeles Times " a great band…honest and intriguing," The Onion AV Club " Double-bass drums collide with impossibly ballsy guitars and disarming chord structures - a provocative blend of Sonic Youth artiness and Slayeresque fury," Pittsburgh City Paper "A surprisingly heavy Brooklyn band on the rise," The Westword "Unpretentious but aggressive hardcore…[Beckon the Dagger God] broke my car stereo; perhaps because it was so aggressive? Who knows? I'm genuinely pissed, though. Way to stick it to the critic, Goes Cube," San Diego Union Tribune "NYC’s Goes Cube are one of our favorite new bands, and that’s no joke. These guys remind us of a simpler time in indie rock (circa 1994) when bands would scoff at the notion of using a synth. Get ready for some serious rock riffs like Slint," Insound "(Goes Cube is) leading New York's rock scene into a much more hopeful future. Their live show will make your brain shake, your body move and your soul scream." Gothamist
