About Glistening
There are two bands named Glistening. One from Canada. One from the US. https://extinctionistrecords.wordpress.com/ (Main Label Website) https://extinctionistrecords.wordpress.com/2019/02/19/0158192512516/ (Glistening Downloads / Soulseek User) 1 - Glistening is a Canadian band / project that started sometime in the Autumn or Winter of 2006, although only started publically releasing music in early 2016, the band was formed by the Canadian multi-instrumentalist Extinctionist along with Evelyn Grace Madeline who had been a lifelong acquaintance to him. In early releases Evelyn helped greatly to compose songs, with many of the riffs and ideas being done with her help, although as she had moved further away her contributions faded mostly just to add bass or vocals, she eventually left the band in June 2020. The project was started shortly after Extinctionist had started getting into philosophy and ontology, most notably antinatalism, negative utilitarianism, ethical altruism, determinism, and pessimism. During this time he had realized Black Metal was missing something, which was the beliefs of antinatalism and it's ultimate anti-life statements of not procreating. The antinatalist beliefs are one of the most prevelant aspects of the band with the mental approach to create a philosophical archive, also highly notable to mention the book 'Better Never to Have Been' by David Benatar which has been credited to influencing the writing greatly. Most of the music was recorded in meager living conditions with modest musical equipment, as they refuse to partake in trivial consumerism and other materialistic nonsense. The music has and always will be secondary for Glistening. It is the expression of ideas as a platform, outside of personal disposition, circumstance, or personality. The truth of Philosophy stands alone, without having any to announce it. There is an intrinsic nature of existence. There is an objective truth to our reality and to the function and productivity of Evolution (If any). Glistening stands to explore these issues, resonates to a hopeful bright future where Extinction is embraced as the highest logical conclusion of our circumstance as living, feeling Organisms. Furthermore, the act has privately recorded dozens of demos, and four unreleased full lengths, in addition to these, there are a total of six acoustic demos that have been passed to friends and close contacts of the artists. The act has played at least a total of three times at various North American venues, but usually under the guise of another artist or completely hidden identity. After recording and releasing many private rehearsals, demos, and full lengths the band decided to go semi public with their Art and release some sessions to the public via tape trading and digital cassette tape rips. Info On Extinctionist: Extinctionist is a multi-instrumentalist / producer from Canada, and is the sole founder of Extinctionist Records. Although primarily a Black Metal artist he has also worked with Ambient / Noise / Neofolk genres, and is known for his extensive amount of aliases, projects, and bands. 2 - Glistening was an all-female rock band from Brooklyn, New York, active in the 90s. They have no official releases, but two of their songs I Can Only Ask and Who Are The Mystery Girls were featured in two compilation albums: Hear No Evil Volume Two and Born To Lose: A Tribute To Johnny Thunders, respectively. Members: Sheila Smith: Guitar, Vocals Meredith Ochs: Bass, Vocals Sandy Fabio: Drums
