About Geneviève Paris

Born in 1956 in Suresnes, a suburb of Paris, Geneviève Paris passed her French baccalaureate and the Conservatoire prize in music on the same day in 1973, at the age of 17. The guitar used for the exam, a magnificent Conde Hermanos, had been lent by her teacher at the time, Christian Jean. She won first prize unanimously. It goes to show that lyrics and music have always been intrinsically linked in her life. She was playing in Parisian folk clubs when she was noticed by Maxime LeForestier, with whom she toured. Julien Clerc, in turn, invited her to join him. Her first two albums, "Geneviève Paris" and "Entre le vert et le gris," were so well received in Quebec that she recorded her third, "Boulevard du crime," there. She moved to Montreal in 1983 after two years of touring and the production of her fourth album, "Achevez-moi." She has lived there ever since. In 1990, she recorded "Miroirs," followed by her sixth album, "Sixième Sens," in 1995. Writing, recording, and touring would become her way of life for 25 years. In 1992, she played the lead role in the rock opera "Sand et les Romantiques" by and with Catherine Lara. In 1995, she published the book "Dessine-moi une chanson" (Draw Me a Song) with VLB Éditeur. Alongside her career as a musician, Geneviève Paris has always been involved in music education: private lessons, songwriting workshops, etc. (Concordia University, Festival de la Petite-Vallée, Musitechnique, to name a few). She has also served on several juries, notably for the Canada Council for the Arts, the Conseil des Arts et Lettres du Québec, MusicAction, and the Granby and Petite-Vallée Festivals. In 2001, returning from the "Two Women at Sea" tour with Sylvie Tremblay, Geneviève became fascinated by Flash animation on the internet. She became so passionately involved that she became a Flash consultant. In 2002, she founded the company "Geneviève Paris Studios," which creates interfaces, websites, and interactive applications, keeping abreast of cutting-edge technologies. She devoted herself fully to it, putting music aside... ...until the beginning of summer 2011, when she was struck by a sudden and intense inspiration! She set off on a road trip, guitar and laptop in hand. In the space of two months, she wrote enough new songs for a full album.
