About Gavin Parker
Gavin Parker is an independent composer, producer, mixer, and engineer. He was in-house composer at renowned games studio Melbourne House for 12 years, during which time he composed the soundtracks for all Melbourne House projects, as well as working occasionally as a sound designer and assistant sound director. He is a multi-instrumentalist who has been playing music since he was old enough to walk, and has played in various bands, including infamous Melbourne funk/ska/metal/jazz/weird band The Brown Hornet in which he was guitarist and also co-producer, as well as playing in major festivals and on television shows all over Australia. Gavin was introduced to music by his pianist father and vocalist mother, and got his start messing around with old synthesizers, drum machines, and sequencers in his bedroom as a kid, and by the time he was 15 years old, stumbled into Melbourne House (or Beam Software as it was then known) as a pimply-faced teenager to do two weeks of work experience. After one week, he had his first videogame composer credit, writing an original tune for the final level of Smash TV for the Super Nintendo. When Gavin finished school a few years later, he was immediately offered a job by Beam Software CEO Adam Lancman, and, despite (by his own admission!) not having any idea what he was doing at the time, he learned the ropes quickly and remained at Melbourne House for 12 years, where he developed his composition skills and his love for videogames even further, and created the soundtracks to games such as Transformers, Krush Kill n Destroy, Test Drive Lemans, Grand Prix Challenge, Scene It! Box Office Smash!, Test Drive Unlimited, and many more! Completely self-taught, Gavin is always striving to create something unique with his music. His passion for all kinds of music is deep, ranging from the fluffy and cute, to the dark and serious, and everything in between. He welcomes any challenge, and loves to push the boundaries when creating his soundtracks. Gavin also enjoys long walks along the beach, dinners with fine wine, and watching the sun set.... when he's not composing music or playing videogames that is.... which is never!
