About Glaive

Ash Blue Gutierrez, professionally known as glaive, is an American musician and producer who gained recognition in 2020 from the hyperpop community on SoundCloud. Born on January 20, 2005 in Florida, Gutierrez moved to North Carolina at a young age and is based there. He first began creating music early in the COVID-19 pandemic while attending high school online, recording his initial songs in his bedroom and quickly drawing an audience on SoundCloud with his distinctive blend of hyperpop and emo-influenced pop. Despite being associated with hyperpop, he has described much of his work as ‘plain pop,’ expressing a desire to expand beyond genre labels. After uploading several tracks to SoundCloud, glaive caught the attention of Interscope Records, which signed him later in 2020. His debut EP, cypress grove, released that same year, was followed by all dogs go to heaven in 2021 and its deluxe edition, old dog, new tricks, in early 2022. His collaboration with ericdoa on their joint EP then i'll be happy led to a co-headlining tour across North America with fellow hyperpop and digicore artists like midwxst and aldn. In 2023, he released his debut full-length album, i care so much that i dont care at all, which was supported by singles like “as if” , “all i do is try my best” and also included "the prom" which would boom in popularity 2 years later. In early 2024, glaive released the EP a bit of a mad one featuring tracks such as “huh” and “i don't really feel it anymore.” Shortly afterward, he announced his departure from Interscope Records to pursue music independently. As an immediate result of this departure, he would release the single “tijuana freestyle” after stating how it was blocked from release by Interscope. Later that year, he would begin the rollout for his sophomore album, May It Never Falter, after teasing the project on social media. It was lead by the sole single “Live & Direct” with kurtains - marking the first feature on a solo glaive project. On September 26, 2025, glaive released his third studio album, "Y'all." It was released under the "Broke" label and the slowsilver03 imprint. He first began to tease this album when he released the opening track "Asheville" on July 18, 2025. On May 8, 2026, glaive released his fourth studio album in collaboration with kurtains, "God Save The Three." It was also released under the "Broke" label and the slowsilver03 imprint, a group which glaive is apart of. He first teased the album in a post on X saying ‘glaive and kurtains album’ in November 2025, and a month later on his private saying ‘And this me and kurtains album getting mastered as we speak ❤️’ later on glaive would post a teaser for "The Troubles" on April 16, 2026, which would release a week later and be the only single off the album. The same day as the release of “The Troubles”, glaive would post the tracklist for the album on X with the captioning signifying the album would release May 8th, 2026. During the days of the rollout, glaive and kurtains would periodically post snippets of songs, including “Let's Link Up and Die” and “The Band Known for themes of frustration, alienation, and emotional intensity, glaive’s work frequently explores mental health and youthful angst, combining elements of emo, pop, trap, and indie rock. Although often associated with hyperpop and digicore, glaive's music has evolved into a more mainstream pop sound, influenced by genres like Midwest emo and pop punk.
