About Gabba

There are at least three artists performing under the name Gabba. (1) Gabba is a solo math rock project by multi-instrumentalist Gabba Santiago based out of Manila, Philippines. Gabba is known for his contributions as a member of Degs, Tom’s Story and Fools and Foes. (2) Gabba are the semi-legendary disco-punk/dance-punk outfit, seared together in the creepy laboratory of notorious sub-genius Stig Honda, known for presaging the later trend of mashup music. As band lore goes, Honda, an obsessive fan of both Abba and the Ramones, made various sleazy subterfuges to obtain intimate body fluids from both bands. In his mixing pot, these ingredients got mixed up with an earwig and some horse parts. The result is Gabba, a group whose songs include such classics as 'Gimmee gimmee gimmee (shock treatment at midnite)', 'Super shock trouper', and 'the pinhead takes it all'. Their most popular album, Leave Stockholm, was released in 1999. (3) Gabba, which translates to "Ivory-coated Reindeer" in Sami, is a Sami band that seamlessly blends traditional yoik with influences from Norwegian folk music, Americana, and other "world musics." Their music is a reflection of the Sami people's lifestyle, with each song transporting the listener to the vast landscapes of the Arctic region. (4) Incorrect tag for Dr. Gabba
