About The Funky Lowlives

The Funky Lowlives are a musical duo formed by Gary Danks and Jonathan Whitehouse, who have been producing music in Soho, London since 1998. Their first single was released on the London label Ascension Music, and they became active as remixers early in their career. Their remix work included projects for artists such as Masters at Work, Dizzy Gillespie, Mark Rae and Richard Dorfmeister. While working extensively on remixes, the duo developed their own style and began releasing original material. Their work attracted the attention of Kruder & Dorfmeister, who signed them to G-Stone Records, where they released the "Inside E.P.". Their debut studio album, "Cartouche", was released in 2002 on the German label Stereo Deluxe, with whom they had established a working relationship through DJ performances and collaborations. After the death of Stereo Deluxe founder Oli Roesch, the Funky Lowlives moved to the London-based label Outer Recordings at the end of 2003.
