About The Art
Hailing from NEWTOWN, Australia, The Art has busted down the doors of the rock scene by performing with the likes of Marilyn Manson, Sonic Youth, and NIN. After Touring America, their most current Aussie dates brought them home to Big Day Out and allowed them to share a stage with Them Crooked Vultures. Having recently completed recording their debut album in Austin, Texas with Chris "Frenchie" Smith (Jet, Trail Of The Dead, Dandy Warhols), they have returned home to join the Pixies on their Australian/New Zealand tour. With standout tracks like "I Wanna Know", the music of The Art mixes Azaria's dramatic lyrics with compelling melodies, producing a bevi of dirty dynamic rock gems. Previously The Art recorded a self-titled E.P produced by Nick Launay (Yeah Yeah Yeah’s, Nick Cave, Supergrass, INXS) and released on his own US label, ‘Stick It To The Man’, followed by the successful independent release of single ‘Goodbye’ soon after. Their forthcoming album was mostly recorded at ‘The Bubble’, Frenchie’s own studio and will include tracks from both Nick Launay and Manny Nieto (The Breeders, Health, Rumspringa) that they recorded in LA during time off from touring.
