Fernando Alonso (born July 29, 1981) is a Spanish racing driver currently competing in Formula One for Aston Martin Aramco Cognizant F1 Team. He is the 2005 and 2006 Formula One World Champion, having won these titles with Renault. He made his F1 debut at the 2001 Australian Grand Prix for Minardi. After becoming Renault's test driver in 2002, he was promoted to a seat at the team the following season, replacing Jenson Button. He won the World Driver's Championship titles in the 2005 and 2006 seasons, as well as securing World Constructor's Championship in these seasons as well, together with Giancarlo Fisichella. For the 2007 season, he moved to Vodafone McLaren-Mercedes, being partnered with British debutant Lewis Hamilton. Despite a strong season with McLaren, he and Hamilton finished third and second, respectively, just one point behind Ferrari driver Kimi Räikkönen. For the following season, he returned to Renault. He took only two race victories that year. After a disappointing 2009 season with only a single podium, he moved to Scuderia Ferrari for the 2010 season, spending the next four seasons with them as well. He was partnered with Felipe Massa, and Alonso was one of the main title contenders during his stint at Ferrari. In 2015, he returned to McLaren, and he failed to get a single podium before taking a hiatus from the sport after the 2018 season. In 2021, he returned to Formula One with Alpine F1 Team (formerly Renault). At the Qatar Grand Prix, he took his first podium since 2014, finishing third. For the 2023 season, he moved to Aston Martin Aramco Cognizant F1 Team, being partnered with Lance Stroll. Since the start of the 2023 season. he managed to catch seven podium finishes, and at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix that year, he became the sixth driver to accomplish 100 podium finishes by finishing third.
