Jake "Fancy" Hagood is an American singer-songwriter born in Bentonville, Arkansas on March 29, 1991. Hagood signed with the Big Machine Label Group and Scooter Braun, subsequently releasing his debut single "Goodbye" in 2015. Initially, Hagood's identity was kept a secret, and his music was released under the moniker "Who Is Fancy". Hagood, who is gay, later reflected on how his label suppressed his identity, saying of his team, "It was everyone wanting to see me win, and they were like, ‘Well, maybe you can’t win if you’re this (type of person)...But maybe I could, you know what I mean?" In 2020, Fancy Hagood returned to the spotlight under his own name with singles like "Don't Blink" and "Forest". His debut full-length album "Souther Curiosity" was released in April 2021 alongside a documentary short about Hagood himself produced by Apple Music.
