Futsu
About Futsu
Futsu is a postcard from the bermuda triangle. A burst of indie pop rock energy that takes you on a romantic, nostalgic and hypnotic journey. Led by eccentric Australian singer-songwriter Mike Marques, Futsu was born in 2012 after Marques relocated to Paris from Tokyo where he’d been recording electro-pop under the name miQue. When arriving in France, all the electronic gear he was using got damaged on the plane trip: Frustrated, he picked up a guitar and began writing accoustic melodies, accumulating over 30 songs in that first summer. Feeling that these songs were good black & white sketches, he felt the urge to remake them in technicolor and recruit other musicians to help him develop the tracks. Julien was the first to join on guitar, bringing a wikipedia-like knowledge of soul and funk as well as a psychedelic touch. Thomas joined on bass, after checking out the band at a concert and discovering a mutal passion for strange Aussie electronic music. Mike ran into Melissa’s classical elegance in the studio while he was recording a score he had written for a short film for Canal+. Finally, the missing piece of the rhythmic puzzle was completed when Dave added his powerful drumming into the mix. Together they take Marques’ compositions and blend twisted surf pop, new wave rock, 60’ symphonic string arrangements and vocal harmonies to create a sound equal parts mysterious, energetic and all their own. After over 40 gigs in Paris & London as well a successful crowdfunding campaign which helped consolidate their fanbase. The band has finished recording their debut album ‘Body Island’ which will come out December 2014, Ahead of the release, they have release their debut single ‘Mechanical Bride’ with the surreal music video which has gained them critical acclaim. To promote the release of their debut album, the band will embark on their first national tour of France in 2015 as well as dates around Europe.
