About FUNKDONEON
From their space on myspace: Is it electronic tango? In fact, the project doesn’t deal exclusively with tango itself, and much less with electronic. The aim is to combine musical sounds from the Rio de la Plata zone with funk and instrumental accessories inherent to the decade in which that musical style functioned. Above all, it aims to be danceable… inclusively as tango. Perhaps the idea of a melody from a bandoneon on top of groove funk sounds like a novelty… Probable influences surely are some Argentine musicians such as Fito Paez, Charly Garcia or Astor Piazzolla… But Stevie Wonder, or bands like Steely Dan, Chic or Jamiroquai, are undoubted references. FUNKDONEON has a more or less classical formation: drums, bass, guitar, piano and synths, and the bandoneon. Their debut EP “The Singles” contains six songs that try to represent six pictures: a trip around Verona from early morning to sundown, a journey in the old “A” subway line, or the photograph of a true star of our Argentine music. Produced by Hernan Agrasar and Marcelo Vaccaro, it is soon to be released, coinciding with the shows of the band presenting this material.
