About Fátima Guedes
Fátima Guedes (Rio de Janeiro, May 6, 1958) is a Brazilian singer and songwriter. She began composing at the age of fifteen, and in 1973 she reached first place at the Hélio Alonso College Music Festival, with the song "Passional". She had songs recorded by Elis Regina, Maria Bethânia, Simone and Ney Matogrosso, among others. Biography She began her career as a composer in 1973, and three years later, her song “Passional” took first consecutive place at the Faculdade Hélio Alonso Music Festival (a college Festival in Rio). The song “Onze Fitas” (1978) was recorded by Elis Regina in her end-of-year special and was part of the soundtrack of the play “O Dia da Caça”, by José Louzeiro. She signed with Odeon label in 1979 - the label released her first three albums. Her first radio success was “Mais uma boca” (1980), which competed in the Festival MPB / Shell. The album “Coração de Louca” (1988) was one of the pioneers of the new independent label Velas, owned by by the duo Ivan Lins/Vitor Martins. Velas was actually launched three years later, releasing three subsequent albums: Pra bom entender... (1993), Grande tempo (1995), which had two songs nominated for the extinct 1996 Sharp Award in the MPB category, and Muito Intensa (1999). Several singers have songs by Fátima Guedes in their repertoire, including: Simone, Maria Bethânia, Jane Duboc, Joanna, Zizi Possi, Mônica Salmaso, Leila Pinheiro, Ney Matogrosso and Nana Caymmi.
