About European Union Quartet

The group was formed by British bass player, Gavin Barras and Dutch saxophonist Iman Spaargaren whilst they were studying in Rotterdam with jazz masters Billy Hart and Hein van de Geyn. Slovakian drummer Marek Dorcik and German guitarist Ulrich Elbracht complete the group. n April 2008, the group toured England’s North West jazz venues. The tour culminated with a studio recording of original compositions - their debut album. The music reflects the influences of each member of the quartet, ranging from delicate ballads to contemporary pieces with intricate rhythmical structures.
