About Ethnician
Ethnician is the band formed by Yvo Abadi (percussion/drums), Miguel Saboga (vocals and percussion), Igor Nikitinsky and Garbis Baharian (samplers), formely of french ska-punk-metal-rap-techno band Dirty District. The name Ethnician was chosen because each member is from a different ethnic background: Miguel was born in Portugal, Igor was born in Russia, Garbis is from Armenia and Yvo is from Egypt. Their music falls into the category of world music, dub, mariachi, and drum 'n' bass but also goes into metal, reggae and dance styles. The band recorded their debut album Ethnician in an abandoned movie theater located in the African district of Paris. Discovered by the Printemps de Bourges Festival Network, they have been dubbed the revelation of the Pop-Komm '98 by the German press.
