About Ed Butler
Billon is the DJ and production moniker of Ed Butler. Combining crisp, cutting edge production with a love of classic analogue synths, Billon creates a sound that both nods to the past and looks to the future of dance music, drawing influence from classic house, techno and UK garage. Billon’s first releases were on Rinse, picking up support from Skream, Mistajam, EZ, Bondax, and many more. He followed these with ‘Special’, featuring a huge vocal from Maxine Ashley. Annie Mac gave the track its debut play on Radio 1; Mistajam made it a Jam Hot record; and Skream, DJ Target, MK, Lee Foss, Tensnake, Groove Armada, Oliver Helden, Todd Edwards, The Magician, Ben Pearce, and Moon Boots all supported. The track was added to the playlists of 1Xtra, Minstry Of Sound, Kiss Fresh, and Rinse and picked up multiple spot plays across Radio 1, Juice FM, Capital, and Capital Xtra. His 2016 rework of Aftershock’s 1994 track ‘Slave To The Vibe’ achieved over seven million streams on Spotify and again was supported extensively. Billon has also chalked up a great run of remixes, reworking Jonas Blue (By Your Side, Hearts Ain’t Gonna Lie), Alison Wonderland (‘Easy), Syn Cole (Who You Are ft. MIO), Route 94 & Jess Glynne (My Love), Katy B (Still), Kiesza (Giant In My Heart), and Wanklemut & Emma Louise (Head Is A Jungle), many of which received support across BBC Radio 1, 1Xtra, Capital Xtra and Kiss. When not producing and DJing as Billon, Ed also works writing and producing with other artists, including Nina Nesbitt (‘Loyal To Me’), Louis III (‘Excuses’), Raleigh Ritchie (‘Free Fall’), and Sasha Keebles (Lemongrass and Limeleaves EP).
