About Doro

Dorothee Pesch (born on 3 June 1964) is a German heavy metal singer known professionally as Doro Pesch or simply Doro. She first gained prominence as the lead vocalist of the heavy metal band Warlock. The name Doro has also been used to refer to the touring band accompanying her solo career, whose lineup has changed frequently over more than two decades of continuous activity, with bassist Nick Douglas and drummer Johnny Dee among the longest-serving members. Pesch began her career performing in garage bands within the underground music scene of her native Düsseldorf. She achieved broader recognition and commercial success in the 1980s with Warlock, a band that gained increasing exposure in the United States. As Warlock underwent multiple lineup changes, Pesch eventually became the sole remaining original member. She subsequently began a solo career under the name Doro, primarily to avoid legal disputes between her record label PolyGram and her former management. She released two albums in the United States produced by Joey Balin and Gene Simmons, though these releases did not result in significant commercial breakthrough there. During the 1990s, amid the rise of grunge and alternative rock, her record label limited the release of her music largely to Europe. Despite this, she continued to tour extensively and remained a charting artist in Germany while living and recording in the United States. As traditional heavy metal experienced a resurgence in popularity, she resumed worldwide touring and became increasingly recognized as a veteran figure in the genre, influencing a new generation of female metal musicians. She is also known for numerous live and studio collaborations with other artists from the metal scene. In 2020, she became the first heavy metal artist to perform a drive-in concert during the COVID-19 pandemic. As of 2026, Pesch has released 19 studio albums, with the most recent being "Conqueress - Forever Strong and Proud", released in October 2023. She continues to record and tour internationally and resides in New York City when not on tour.
