About Doc Kirby & Co.

"Doc Kirby & Co." was organized in 1972 by two musicians - guitarist Smith Vinson and keyboardist Larry Morgan. The group mainly performed in clubs and concert venues in Memphis. The creativity of the guys drew the attention of Sam Philips, one of the co-owners of the local company Sun Records and offered to record a single, which was successfully recorded in 1973. The single "High On Lovin" was often performed on local radio stations. By the middle of 1973, the band had recruited material for a full-fledged disc, and in the same year 1973 the self-titled album was released, as it turned out to be the only one. A husky voice die-hard rocker Doc Kirby's solo album supported by Smith Vinson and Muscle Shoals Brass. Much a similar to legendary Jonathon Round. Down south deep soul rock album ever recorded! Album: Doc Kirby & Co. This album was recorded at Trace Recording Studio in Tupelo, Mississippi, on used equipment from Sun Records in Memphis. Sam Philips, owner of Sun Records, was one of the co-owners of Trace Recording Studio along with Ray Harris, previously of Hi Records in Memphis, who produced all four of these albums. Tracklist 01.
