Denis Montero, a resident of a small town near Vladivostok, has recently leapfrogged onto the international music market, with two of his songs being recorded in London by the producers of Madonna and George Michael. One of the songs, Hold Me Now, is continuously played by many Vladivostok radio stations, and Montero's plan is to release another single from his first album in Australia. Montero, 25, lives in Artyom and writes his techno-rap songs in English because he says he is a fan of Anglo-American music. He started his singing career after being highly impressed by a video of Britain's East 17 band 10 years ago. Vladivostok company Number One recently completed recording his first album, Free to Decide, but four songs were recorded in London, Montero says. "I once sent out my demos to various producers and some replied expressing interest in my material," Montero recollects. "Finally I made the decision to go to England to meet producer Andy Richards and work with him in his studio." He says Richards, who was the producer for Tina Turner, George Michael, Atomic Kitten and other popular singers and bands, recorded two of his singles. Then he came across Madonna at the studio and she recommended him to Arty Sky, the producer who worked on her remixes. Sky recorded two more of Montero's songs, Hold Me Now and a remix version. "During the trip to London it was great to be able to take a dip into the world of international show business, look at it from the inside and talk to people who have tremendous experience in the trade," says the singer. The next step for Montero is recording a video for his single Snow Rain. It is scheduled for release at the end of March in Australia and he has already signed a contract there with company MGM for the promotion and sales of the video. Montero is also negotiating with several Moscow recording companies for the release of his album.
