About Denim on Denim
Denim on Denim is the collected songs and scribblings of Josh Bowling. What began as a project to explore sound design and interesting production techniques gradually evolved to include the vocal melodies and words which were the primary tools in an earlier "indie pop" incarnation. The words serve as a unifying direction, and possibly the only way to remove the topical, timestamped nature of electronic and "sound" production in general. In the tradition of a writer or novelist with a daily practice, as well as the freedom and irritation of all the aesthetic decisions, "Secret Candy" (2007) and "A Work of Art In The Age of Mechanical Repos" (2009) were the fruits of this approach.
