About Demir Demirkan
Demir Demirkan, a Turkish rock musician and producer, was born on August 12, 1972 in Adana, Turkey. He spent his childhood there, and later moved to Ankara to pursue his higher studies at Bilkent University. He joined the very successful heavy metal band Pentagram (known internationally as Mezarkabul) in 1992 as a guitarist. During the period between 1997 and 1999, Demirkan worked with a number of music artists including Sertab Erener and Şebnem Ferah. He co-wrote the smash hit Everyway That I Can, with which Erener won the 2003 Eurovision Song Contest, and also wrote a number of tracks on her debut English language album, No Boundaries. His first solo album was released in 2000. The second Dünya Benim was available in 2002. Since then, Demirkan. has released two other albums: 2004 İstanbul (2004) and the soundtrack to the movie Gelibolu (2005).
