About Def La Desh

Def La Desh and the Fresh Witness is comprised of Esther Munster, Natasha Van Der Weerd and singer Wendy Wright. Top 40 hits include "Check Out The Ska," and "Feel The Rhythm." Def La Desh and the Fresh Witness was one of the first ever female rap groups who innovatively combined rap with vocals. Groups like TLC followed suit. Esther Munster and Natasha Van Der Weerd began their careers in Enchede, Holland performing in local fairs. On the other side of the world, biracial lead singer Wendy Wright, born in New York, was singing in talent shows and doing backing vocals for various artists. In 1990, CNR records A&R executive Ronald van Der Meyden and hit producers Quincy Lizer and Cooly D brought these talented girls together in Europe to form Def La Desh and the Fresh Witness. Their 1991 debut album Two Timin contained the popular hit single "Feel The Rhythm.” Their video for “Feel The Rhythm” was in rotation on music networks like BET, MTV and Vh1. Known for their new jack sound, the group enjoyed commercial success in the early nineties. “Feel The Rhythm,” “Check Out The Ska” and “Tear It Up” appear on numerous compilation CD’s worldwide.
