Deere John

About Deere John

Since 2005, the members of DEERE JOHN have been igniting audiences with their self proclaimed "Dark Secret Country". What started as an impromptu get together in a Northern British Columbia kitchen at 4:00 A.M., has erupted into a truly talented and diverse song writing team. DEERE JOHN's Craig Brooks, Randy Gee, Ken Kirshner, and James Webster had individually worked at their song writing skills for decades in separate projects that saw their travels take them Across Canada and literally across the globe playing with musical icons from Brian Adams to Jethro Tull and releasing both independent and international record company releases in Canada, Europe, and Japan. But it was when they turned their collective attention to Country Music that something synergistic occurred. During Their live performances it became apparent that their original music was thrilling their fans, and it was time to try and capture the energy and excitement of their live show on to disc. Taking influences like The Eagles, Steve Earle, and Lyle Lovette, the band literally moved into a Log Cabin on guitar player, Randy Gee's farm and began the collaborative process of writing a great country album. With four singer /song writers in the group, the songs grew with surprising speed and quality. There is a distinct “No Boundaries” attitude towards country music in this release, and the members of DEERE JOHN realized that to effectively showcase their diverse styles of music, a truly talented producer was essential. And as fait would have it that person came to them once again at a chance meeting on the road touring with country recording artist and 2006 CCMA's producer of the year Gil Grand. Gil brought a time honed industry savvy to the music that took the raw energy and excitement of the DEERE JOHN sound to an international level. His attention to detail and his ear for radio friendly lyrics and melody shines clearly through on this generous, sixteen track, offering. With the help of a state of the art studio in Nashville and the engineering talents of Bill Warner.
