About David Linx
David Linx (born 22 March 1965 in Brussels) is a Belgian jazz and chanson singer, composer and lyricist. Linx, a son of the composer and musician Elias Gistelinck, studied percussion and was the drummer of the American jazz singer Mark Murphy for three years, which motivated him to start singing himself. Linx has been teaching jazz singing at the Royal Conservatory in Brussels since 1993. In 1986 he recorded a record with a large group of musicians with the American writer and activist James Baldwin, who reads poems on it. The musicians included Pierre Van Dormael and Slide Hampton. In 1990 he made an album, on which he is accompanied by Jack van Poll. In the early nineties he started collaborating with pianist Diederik Wissels, whom he has known since childhood. With him Linx recorded several duo records over the years. Linx has also recorded with, among others, Toots Thielemans, the quartet of guitarist Tam De Villiers, the quartet of pianist Ivan Paduart (next to Fay Claassen) and the Brussels Jazz Orchestra. In addition to his work in jazz, he is also active in French chanson. He recorded a record with chansons and collaborated with singer Maurane. Linx also composes music for film and dance theatre and teaches at the Conservatory in Brussels. He has lived in Paris since 1999. In 2005 he was awarded the Prix Bobby Jaspar by the Académie du Jazz. David Linx has recorded over 15 solo albums as leader and/or co-leader and besides his own projects he is a frequent guest in the jazz circuit and also giving masterclasses in renownded conservatories worldwide Source (translated from Dutch): https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Linx
