About DaWeed
Dj and producer from Madrid, his first production works took place around 1.998 and already show the influence the Detroit Berlin-Chicago triangle will have in his career. From this date are the EP’s produced under the names "Ergot" and "the crawl crew" for imprints like Audiodrome, Syl:Label Complex or Options. With a very good international acceptance, his productions get into international dj listings and radio programmes such as Oliber Lieb’s BBC Radio one set and LP’s like "DEM 01" (Isoghi) under the name Backspin Boyz, shared with Xpansul and HD Substance. The 12" by Xpansoul & Daweed "When music was music" published in Lele Saachi’s label Soundplant has been recommended by Groove Armada, Fabrice Lig. His music has been used in several scenic events and original soundtracks such as "XXX" by "La Fura dels Baus", and licensed for diverse compilations like Francesco Farfa’s Music Public Property" (Serial Killer). Currently he manages, along with Fernando Gullón and Xpansul the labels Discos de Lata, Sindicato Records and DeBés Records with frequent releases in all of them. His productions for Sindicato Records bear a House sound deeply influenced by electronics, with hints to minimalism and analogue sounds. "Can’t Believe", first of Sindicato Record’s releases made a great success in Spain and abroad, appearing in radio programmes and charts of Jori Hulkonnen or Shane Jonson (Fish Go Deep), and magazines such as Trax , DJ1, Vanidad, Tendencias, (Spain) , De:BUG, Raveline (Germany) or Dj Mag (UK). "Up In the Sky", the second, was licensed for compilations like "Destination Lounge: Bali" and "I’m Gonna Get You", remix of an Alexi Delano’s track, included in charts of artists such as John Digweed or Cari Leckebush. "Peel the Bit" is his latest work for Sindicato Records. Included in the 7th reference of the label, it’s been around in sets and charts by Sam Rouanet, Ángel Molina, DJ Hell, Jamie Jones, Damian Lazarus or Jesper Dählback. His works for Discos de Lata show a clear orientation towards raw electronic techno, with frequent hints to pure and classic synth sounds. "Tin Can Spin", Discos de Lata’s 2nd reference goes to show this orientation. Under the moniker Backspin Boyz it includes four tracks half way between Chicago and Detroit , fast and hard but with a high melodic content. The 3rd, along with Xpansul and titled "1,2,3" has a darker and rawer sound, less melodic but equally dancefloor oriented . In a similar note is "Cansino y Faenado", 3rd reference of Madrid’s label MSX Records, property of Xpansul & Miguel Mendoza. In the next few months it’s expected the release of an EP co-produced with Xpansul & Joel Mull under a common project named "Swedish Meeting" and the publication of various references in the british label LeftRoom, managed by Matt Tolfrey. As a DJ, he starts his professional career in a club in Luton (London) in 1998. Back in Spain he played as resident dj in Soma Experimental Club, probably Madrid’s best techno club for years until it disappeared in 2003 . He has also promoted clubs such as Nuyorican, a NY House oriented club in Madrid, and plays regularly in gigs all over the country and abroad.
