Darker Half play METAL: drawing on the roots of classic heavy metal, they have been inspired by thrash, power, death, speed and more to build a unique style all their own. Darker Half is a melodic metal band from Sydney Australia. Their sound is rooted in traditional metal drawing on only the heaviest, most face-melting forms of steel. Twisted dual guitars and explosive solos are laid across a rock solid yet inventive rhythm section, topped off by a vocalist whose range can match any of rock’s greats, making this a band who can really set themselves apart. They have released three albums in Australia — Duality (2009), Desensitized (2011) and Never Surrender (2014). In 2016, Never Surrender was released in Europe and was quickly followed by their EP Classified. They have shared a stage with some of metal’s finest acts including Queensryche, Edguy, Sonata Arctica, Dark Funeral, Children of Bodum, Nightwish, Accept, Helloween, Stratovarius, Rage and more. Members of Darker Half have played in the touring bands of Tim Ripper Owens, Paul Di’Anno and Blaze Bayley and singer/guitarist Vo Simpson worked with Stu Marshall (Death Dealer) on his Empires of Eden project contributing vocals on two songs and a guest guitar solo. Metal icons that feature on the album include Udo Dirkshneider, Rob Rock, Ronnie Monroe, Sean Peck and Ross The Boss. Through all this, Darker Half have established themselves as one of Australia’s premier metal acts, drawing together multiple influences to create a unique sound all their own. They have performed throughout Australia and New Zealand, have toured the USA and Europe. Wherever they have ventured, they have won new fans and received glowing reviews Darker Half come from Sydney Australia. The band is based around the dual guitars of Vo Simpson and Brad Dickson. The guitar harmonies of Vo and Brad intertwine searing lead breaks with Vo's screaming power vocals and brutal doom growl across the solid yet adventurous bass and drums of Simon Hamilton and Dom Simpson. The band has existed since 2005 playing shows throughout Sydney and regularly visiting major cities on the east coast playing with many of Australias most renowned metal acts including Mortal Sin, Vanishing Point, Lord, Alarum, Black Majesty, Eyefear, Voyager and many more. In early 2009 the band released their debut album 'Duality' followed by an Australian East Coast headline tour in March to promote the CD. Since the album's release the band have received a solid amount of radio play and multiple showings of their debut film clip 'Take The Plunge' on RAGE, ABC TV. In 2009 Darker Half toured the east coast of Australia with Iron Maiden's original vocalist Paul Di'anno and did a full national tour supporting progressive metal legends Queensryche.
