About Chineapple Punx
Amersham, Buckinghamshire - hardly the hotbed of political unrest to produce an anarcho-punk band, but stranger things have happened. Right from the early shows in 1995 the Chineapple Punx experience was firmly tongue in cheek. The 4 piece (originally Paul, Alan, Graham and Chris) played loud agressive punk rock sure ... but they also offered a fiver to the first audience member to wet themselves on stage. The games got sillier (taping bowls of vegan custard to people's heads), and the songs got louder. After recording the Green Suede Head demo and releasing the first single (Chunk and Disorderly - split with Ciderfex) Chris headed off to university and Dooog took over the bass duties. The Right Royal Knees up single came out on Inflammable Material and the band issued the Brainspotting demo. Gigs up and down the country followed, along with a trip to Belgium before Graham decided to hang up his guitar and James came in. This lineup continued up to the eventual split in 2000 releasing the It's Good But It's Not Right album on local label Greased Pig, as well as recording the unrelased tracks that were to make up the second album Pant's People. The last gig took place at the scene of the first - the Roundabout in High Wycombe. Limited edition commemoration broccoli (signed) was handed out to the audience, Alan jumped up and down in a paddling pool of hops and beer, then they cleaned up and went home.
