Born and raised in Jackson, Mississippi, Chelsea has been singing since the tender age of 3 years old. Being the daughter of a minister, Chelsea started singing in the church and still today continues to bless people with her smooth and sultry vocals. At the age of 12, Chelsea moved to Atlanta, GA with her family. That marked the beginning of a wonderful journey into becoming one of the most influential female entertainers of our time. Chelsea has a smooth, edgy and bubbly style all her own. Upon meeting her, she has this infectious smile and sparkling personality and beauty that will win the hearts of music lovers all across the globe. She credits her role models, Whitney Houston, Bette Midler, Nancy Wilson, her Mom and Jesus for giving her the puzzle pieces that complete who she is as a person and entertainer. Unlike a lot of artists out today, Chelsea states, “I can REALLY sing and I write my own stuff!” Growing up in the church and being a “preacher’s kid” did not pressure Chelsea in any kind of way. Instead it gave her the faith and determination to pursue her dreams no matter what. After graduating “Most Talented” from high school, she started attending modeling and acting school. In 2005 (the season Taylor Hicks won), Chelsea traveled to Greensboro, NC to try out for American Idol,. She beat out thousands of hopefuls and received the green light from Paula, Simon and Randy to travel to Hollywood to begin the grueling audition process. Unfortunately, Chelsea did not make it past the LA auditions. She was hurt, but that did not stop her from following her dreams. She went on to sing and write for notable music industry heavyweights such as Keith Sweat, Busta Rhymes, Papoose, Dem Franchise Boys and more! She was also accepted into the internship program at Atlanta’s V-p103 FM and won a full scholarship from their Southern Hip-hop DJ Greg Street to attend the CSB School of broadcasting.
