Some songwriters drive straight through to their destination, some take in the whole world along the way. Cece Box is a songwriter more interested in the what the music wants to do than in pushing herself to the front of the crowd. And yet, if you spot a chance to hear her in person, you'll know you're hearing someone who has something to say and knows how to say it. No pop diva here, refusing to be "boxed in", she hints at her experience in traces of southern gospel, Latin rhythms, '60's folk and rock, musical theater, even classical choral music, and themes from social commentary to a decidedly adult view of love. That's a lot of of experience, and it shows, in catchy or haunting melodies, and lyrics that never stoop to the obvious.
